Aaron Gonzales (1971-2023) was a son of Barbara Gonzales and a great-grandson of Santana & Adam Martinez. He was a brother of noted potter Cavan Gonzales. His name in Tewa is Totavi Pín (Quail Mountain). He began making pottery in the 1990s and served in the Gulf War. He is known for his clay bear and buffalo figures. This clay buffalo is fully polished. It is has a very angular form, giving it a modernist appearance. The face is two-toned sienna and there are two pieces of turquoise inset for the eyes. It is signed on the inside of the leg, “Aaron G.”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
