Gonzales, Marie – Jar with Feather Design (1980s)

Marie Gonzales is a sister of noted potter John Gonzales and a daughter of Lorenzo Gonzales.  This jar is coil-built and fully polished red.  It is etched around the sides with a feather pattern.  The rim has a cloud design and below the feathers are wind designs.  The precision of the feathers is EXCEPTIONAL on this jar!  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair. It is signed on the bottom, “Marie Gonzales”.  While Marie makes very little pottery today, her work is always creative and detailed in the execution of the design.
