Susan Folwell is one of the exciting innovators in Pueblo pottery. Her work in native clay and traditional designs, but she is constantly experimenting with techniques and clays. This is one of the few tiles she has made. The back has been rag polished to give the appearance of wood. The design painted on the piece has a series of Northwest Coast style designs.  Susan lived in Alaska for a period in the 1990’s, and that was the beginning of her use of these images. They are very tightly painted and the colors and the clay work perfectly for the piece!  It is exceptional.  The tile is signed on the back.
