This is a classic bowl by Madeline Naranjo.  Did you know that every piece is a pinch pot? Unlike most other Pueblo potters, she does not coil build her pottery, but each piece starts out as a ball of clay and she “pinches” it into its form.  That is quite a process!  This bowl has carved cloud, mountain, and lightning designs as the pattern. They are deeply carved into the clay and left matte. The top section of the bowl is polished.  There is a striking contrast between the polished and matte surfaces.  Madeline’s designs are always innovative and beautifully executed.  The bowl is signed on the bottom, ‘Madeline E. Naranjo”.
