Toni Roller is a daughter of noted potter Margaret Tafoya. The bowl is from 1977. It is highly polished and has a carved avanyu on the shoulder of the bowl. As the bowl is turned there is a complexity of designs with cloud and lightning imagery. The bowl is signed in the clay on the bottom and it is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.

Toni Roller

Toni Roller is a daughter of Margaret Tafoya (1904-2001) and a sister of noted potters Virginia Ebelacker, Jennie Trammel, LuAnn Tafoya, Shirley Tafoya, Mary Ester Archuleta and Mela Youngblood. Her brother was Lee Tafoya. Toni is known for her deeply carved pottery as well as an exquisitely stone polished surface. Toni is committed to the precision of her pottery, and each piece reflects the time and care she dedicates to her craft, which continues a centuries-long tradition. Toni has won numerous awards at Santa Fe Indian Market and the Heard Indian Market, and she has been featured in several books.
