Rose M. Brown is from both San Ildefonso Pueblo and Cochiti Pueblo. Interestingly, she is a niece of Gilbert Atencio. Her father was Pat Atencio and her grandmother Isabel Atencio. Her pieces are traditional Cochiti in style, painted with the classic white clay slip. This figure has 17 kids and one dog on the storyteller! She is very intricately painted with a squash blossom necklace. The figure is signed on the bottom, “Rose M. Brown”. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
