$ 225.00

Robert Aguilar (b. 1968) began making pottery in the 1970s.  He is a nephew of Rafaelita Aguilar and he makes pottery in the Aguilar family tradition.  This jar is coil-built, stone polished, and painted.  The neck has a butterfly design and the around the shoulder is a classic wild spinach pattern.   Wild spinach is the plant used to paint the black on traditional Santo Domingo and Cochiti pottery.  The jar was traditionally fired outdoors.   It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Robert Aguilar”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
