This is a very rightly painted bowl by Susana Aguilar.  The piece is from the 1930s and it is fully polished and fired to a near-gunmetal appearance.  The bowl is one of her more classic shapes with the low shoulder and sloping sides.  The design is intricately painted with fine lines representing rain, cloud, and lightning designs.  Note how it’s not just the painted designs, but how the negative space of the polished surface was used to accentuate the designs.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Susana”. The bowl is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
