Ramona Ami (b. 1929)  was a daughter of Emma and Hale Adams.  She learned to make pottery from her sister, Marcella Kahe.  She was known for her use of traditional techniques, designs, and outdoor firing.  This jar is coil built and painted with bee-weed (black) and a red clay slip.  The jar has a wide shoulder and a short neck.  The piece has rainbow birds, bird tail feathers, and rain designs.  It is a complex piece in terms of the painted surface. The jar was traditionally fired so there are blushes on the surface.  It is signed on the bottom, “Ramona Ami”.  It is in very good with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
