Hilda Antonio (b. 1938) is a daughter of Eva Histia and granddaughter of Helice Vallo.  Her aunts were Lucy Lewis and Elizabeth Waconda.  Hilda learned to make pottery from her mother.  This large jar is coil-built from native clay.  It has a round body, elongated neck, and handles.  The neck is fluted and slipped with red clay  The body of the jar has large medallions on each side with traditional double bird designs. The separating sections (under the handles) have a cornfield design.  The handles are braided.  It is a large and impressive jar.  It was traditionally fired so there are slight color variations to the surface.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “H. Antonio”.  The jar is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
