6.5"w x 6"h

$ 400.00

Melissa Concho Antonio (b. 1965) is a daughter of Gilbert and Lillie Concho and married to Daniel Antonio.  She is a sister-in-law of Frederica Antonio.  This piece is coil-built from native clay and painted with bee-weed (black) and additional clay slips.  It is a classic water jar shape with a high shoulder and short neck.  The rim has a mountain and rain design. There are flute players swirling from the top to the base.  The remainder is painted with a checkerboard pattern.  There are cloud and rain designs extending downward.  It is intricate and eye-dazzling for its size.  It is signed on the bottom, “M. C. Antonio”.
