Antonio, Randy – Jar with Birds and Bird Wing Checkerboard
Randy Antonio is a son of Mildred Antonio and the husband of Frederica Antonio. The jar is coil built and painted with clay slips and bee-weed (black). Randy said that he wanted to start re-creating some of his mother’s designs in his own style. It’s great to see him continue this amazing family tradition. This jar has birds and flowers around the neck. The body of the jar has a white and red checkerboard pattern with black painted bird wings. The checkerboard extends to near the base and they get smaller as they get closer to the base. There is a strong symmetry to the design and an update of a classic style. It is signed on the bottom, “R. N. A.”.
