Aqurero, Martha – Frog Storyteller with Five Small Frogs

Martha Aqureo (b. 1944) is a daughter of Damacia Cordero and a sister of Josephine Arquero and Maria Laweka.  This is one of her iconic frog storytellers. The frog is made from native clay and painted with bee-weed and traditionally fired.  The frog has five smaller frogs and a dragonfly on its tongue.  It is a charming piece.  The storyteller is signed, “Martha Aquuero”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
