Wanda Aragon (b. 1948) is a daughter of noted potter Frances Torivio and a sister of Lilly Salvador. She is also known by her name in Acoma, Dzinats’ituwits’a.  She is known for her traditional style of Acoma pottery.  Each piece is coil-built using native clay and painted with bee-weed and natural clay slips.  This is a small water jar.  It is fully painted with rainbows and rain designs. The rainbows are around the shoulder of the jar.  They are colorful with red and brown clay slips.  Wanda notes it is inspired by an Acoma jar from the 1890’s.  It is signed on the bottom “W. Aragon”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
