Wanda Aragon (b. 1948) is a daughter of noted potter Frances Torivio. She is also known by her name in Acoma, Dzinats’ituwits’a. She is known for her traditional Acoma pottery, which is coil-built and painted with beeweed and clay slips for coloration. This is a small water jar. It is has a fine-line ‘turtle back” pattern. Each of the squares created by the lines is meant to look like the shell of a turtle! The lines are tightly painted for the size. It is signed on the bottom, “W. Aragon”. it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
