Alvin Baca is known for his classic melon ribbed jars. This is the first time we have seen one of his pieces that is incised.  There are two avanyy etched into the clay, encircling the bowl. Above them are clouds and below waves.  The style of sgraffito is unique and it was fired a deep red coloration.  The bowl is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Alvin Baca”.
