Alvin Baca is known for his classic melon ribbed jars. This tall jar is carved with 24 ribs encircling the piece.  The entire jar is fully polished, including the short neck.  The hight and the neck are perfectly accented by the straight melon ribs.  The space between the ribs is matte for visual contrast.  Even the base of the jar is polished.  The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Alvin Baca”.
