Baca, Jane, and Starr Tafoya – Clay Standing Beaver Figure (1980s)

Jane Baca (1919-2011) and her daughter Starr Tafoya (b. 1951) worked together on pottery for decades. Jane was a sister of Legoaria Tafoya and Pablita Velarde.  Jane and Starr were known primarily for their figurative pottery.  This is one of their clay animals. It is a standing beaver that is fully polished.  Note as well that the tail is fully carved and polished!  It is the largest of the animals we have had by them.  It is signed, “Jane and Starr”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
