This is an exceptional large jar by Joe Baca.  He is known for his creative sgraffito pottery.  This large jar is coil-built and fully stone polished.  It was fired a deep black.  On the neck of the jar are four sections with Basket Dancers.  In each section, there are two male and two female Basket Dancers.  They are etched into the clay at various depths to create amazing detail and colorations on the jar.  The remainder of the jar is highly polished.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Joe Baca”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
