Bartlett, Lorena – Water Jar with Applique Corn (1990s)
5"w x 5"h
$ 200.00
Lorena Bartlett was a sister-in-law of Louise Goodman. She was known for her “thin-walled pots decorated with more-or-less traditional designs”. This is a classic water jar with a round shoulder and turned-out rim. The jar has an ear of applique corn on one side. Note how the husk extends backward with a flowing ribbon-like appearance. The jar was traditionally fired and has strong colorations across the surface After the firing it was covered with pinon pitch. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “LVB”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair. Definitely a great piece of Navajo pottery history!
