Begay, Daniel – “Finding a Way” Square Hummingbird Jar

7"w x 7"w x 7"h

$ 2,800.00

This is a large contemporary square jar by Daniel Begay.  The jar is coil-built, carved, stone-polished, and traditionally fired. It is square in shape and carved on all four sides.  The piece is entitled, “Finding A Way”.  There is a hummingbird on one side.  There are carved feathers on the top along with clouds and lighting. It is extraordinary how the designs extend over the top of the shoulder and around the edges!  Daniel is extraordinary in his ability to create pieces in this unique style.  It’s not just the imagery but the subtle flow of the polished and matte surfaces that are so creative in his work!   Daniel’s combination of both thin and thicker lines enhances the imagery.  His carving style has a beveled appearance to the angle of the cuts into the clay.  The jar is signed on the bottom, “Daniel”.
