This is an elegantly shaped wide-shoulder jar by Daniel Begay.  The piece is coil-built, carved, stone-polished, and traditionally fired.  The jar has a wide shoulder and a short neck. The top has carved feathers, mountains, and a heartline bear.  The piece has a striking contrast of highly polished and matte surfaces.  The style of carving has a beveled appearance to the angle of the cuts into the clay.  The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Daniel Begay”.
