Bernal, Camille – Jar with Asymmetric Opening

4.5"w x 8"h

$ 200.00

Camille Bernal is from Taos Pueblo.  She attended IAIA and graduated in 2004 and then studied with Shawn Tafoya (Santa Clara) from 2003-2014 through the Poeh Arts Center.  Camille says of her pottery;

I’m always working in an experimental style. My clay pieces might be traditional in form, or organically asymmetrical. I love the natural world, so my pots might be decorated with delicately painted fronds, stems and flowers climbing to the lip of the piece. Or perhaps they might be crawling with insects, like fuzzy caterpillars or wonderful pollinators. I enjoy hand carving some pieces, while others might be incised or embellished with clay adornments.

This jar has a tall shape with an off-center neck.  There is an organic nature to the form, much like a gourd. It is slipped with a micaceous red clay.  Camille traditionally fires her pottery.  The jar is signed, “Camille Bernal Gallegos”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips,cracks, restoration, or repair.
