WOW!  This is an exceptional large bowl by Blue Corn.  She is certainly one of the most creative potters of her time with a varied use of clays and firing techniques to create her distinctive pottery.  This is one of her larger vessels from the 1970s.  It is a large piece with a high shoulder that turns inward towards a sloping side.  You can’t quite see it, but you can feel the angles in the shape of the bowl.  It is very highly polished and painted with a rain and cloud pattern around the rim. Around the sides are cloud, rain, and plant patterns. The bowl was fired to a glassy, silvery gunmetal black.  It is spectacular!  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Blue Corn”.   It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It’s always exciting to see pieces this size by Blue Corn!
