12.5" Diameter

$ 3,500.00

Blue Corn is certainly one of the most creative potters of her time with a varied used of clays and firing techniques to create her distinctive pottery. This is one of her large polychrome plates, meaning that more than three colors of clay were used for the design.  The plate is polished white and then painted with three different colors of clay. There are 40 feathers encircling the plate. The center has a checkerboard green and black band. One side is plain and the opposite side has a lightning and rain design painted in ochre color.  It is a creative use of the color and design.  The feathers have a classic feel, while the color and design reflect Blue Corn.  It is great to see a polychrome plate by Blue Corn with such elegant designs and in such a large size!  It has a micaceous slip on the back and it is signed in the clay, “Blue Corn”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
