Blue Corn was one of the great innovative San Ildefonso potters of the late 1900s.  This is a classic shaped bowl that is coil-built and stone polished before it was painted. The bowl has a sharp shoulder and sloping sides.  It has a painted cloud pattern that extends down from the rim.  There are six clouds painted on the bowl.  It was traditionally fired a glossy black coloraiton.  It is signed on the back in the clay, “Blue Corn”.  It is from the 1960s, and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
