Blue Corn – Polychrome Bowl with 32 Feathers (1980s)

This is a classic bowl by Blue Corn.  She is s certainly one of the most creative potters of her time with a varied use of clays and firing techniques to create her distinctive pottery. This bowl has a low, round shoulder and it is fully polished.  It is painted with 32 symmetric feathers encircling the piece.  The ends of each feather are highlighted with taupe-colored clay.  The bottom of the bowl has an abstract design that is painted with micaceous clay.  The piece was traditionally fired.  It is signed in the clay, “Blue Corn”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
