Blue Corn (1921 - 1999)
This is a classic small jar by Blue Corn. She is s certainly one of the most creative potters of her time with a varied use of clays and firing techniques to create her distinctive pottery. This piece has a sharp shoulder and sloping sides. The jar is painted with 25 feathers encircling the piece. The feathers are black while the vents or ends are slipped with an ochre-colored clay. The piece was traditionally fired. It is signed in the clay, “Blue Corn”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
