Blue Corn is certainly one of the most creative potters of her time with a varied use of clays and firing techniques to create her distinctive pottery.  This is a classic long-neck jar with a round shoulder.  The entire surface is fully polished.  Around the shoulder, there are two sections with feather designs.  Separating them are two sections with bird tails.  In total, there are 33 feathers painted on the jar.  The piece was fired a deep black coloration.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Blue Corn”.   It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  The high polish and glossy surface are striking on this jar!
