This is a creative polychrome carved jar by Blue Corn.  She is certainly one of the most creative potters of her time, with a varied use of clays and firing techniques to create her distinctive pottery. This jar has a sharp shoulder and sloping sides. The top half is carved in a cameo style with an avanyu.  It is fully polished tan. The background are is slipped with mica.  The bottom half of the jar is polished with a color that almost appears blue-green after the firing.  They create a striking visual contrast. It is visually striking with a bold and creative design.  It is not often that we see a plate by Blue Corn with such complicated designs and in such a large size!  It is signed in the clay, “Blue Corn”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
