Brown, Debbie – Jar with Plant and Feather Pattern
Debbie Brown Debby Brown is the daughter of Sarah Garcia and granddaughter of Jessie Garcia (one of the Four Matriarchs of the Acoma Pueblo pottery families). She learned to make pottery from her mother and grandmother. This jar has high shoulders and a short neck. It is fully painted with a feather pattern around the rim and plant and rain designs on the remainder of the jar. The design has a striking appearance and flows as the jar is turned. The jar is coil built. It has the indented bottom reminiscent of the classic style Acoma vessels. It is signed on the bottom, “Debbie G. Brown”.
