Mary Cain was a daughter of Christina Naranjo and a granddaughter of SaraFina Tafoya. She was known for her classic style of carved and polished Santa Clara pottery. This wedding vase is from 1997. It has a round body and extended spouts. There is a bear paw impressed into the clay on each side. The entire surface is fully polished and it was traditionally fired a deep black coloration. It is signed on the bottom, “Mary Cain”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair. There is a third place ribbon from the 1997 Annual Mesa Verde Pottery Festival
