Caroline Lucero-Carpio is from Isleta Pueblo. She studied at the Institute of American Indian Arts and has been working in clay for over 40 years. She is also known for her bronzes. Her pottery is coil-built, stone-polished, and fired. In 2000 she received a SWAIA fellowship and was Artist of the Year for the Indian Arts and Craft Association, (IACA). This bowl is made from native clay and carved with cloud designs. It was fired black. The bowl is signed on the bottom, “Caroline Carpio”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
