Caroline Lucero-Carpio is from Isleta Pueblo. She studied at the Institute of American Indian Arts and has been working in clay for over 40 years. She is also known for her bronzes. Her pottery is coil-built, stone polished, and fired. In 2000 she received a SWAIA fellowship and was Artist of the Year for the Indian Arts and Craft Association, (IACA). This water jar has a round shoulder and fluted rim. The neck has 13 swirling indented “ribs”. The result is visually striking with the way the light reflects off the ribs of the neck. The entire surface is fully polished. The jar is signed on the bottom, “Caroline Carpio”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
