Barbara & Joseph Cerno are known for their large coil built vessels.  This is one of their smaller seedpots.  However, it is very intricately painted!  There are a variety of birds, insects, and butterflies on the piece.  It is sipped with the red Acoma clay and painted on top with bee-weed.  There are small areas of fine-line work and the white clay slip as an accent.  It is from 1985 and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.   It is signed on the bottom “BJ Cerno”.   Barbara & Joseph remain among the most renown contemporary Acoma potters for their revival of historic patterns.
