Denise Chavarria (b. 1959) is a daughter of noted potter Stella Chavarria and a granddaughter of Teresita Naranjo. Each piece is coil-built, carved, stone polished, and traditionally fired. This bowl has 9 melon ribs swirling up from the base. There is one section that is carved out with a stylized bird wing pattern. The bowl is highly polished and fired a deep black. It is signed on the bottom, “Denise Chavarria”.
