Denise Chavarria (b. 1959) is a daughter of noted potter Stella Chavarria and a granddaughter of Teresita Naranjo.  Each piece is coil-built, carved, stone polished, and traditionally fired.  This jar is carved with rain and mesa designs.  The piece is deeply carved and highly polished.  It was fired a deep black.  It is signed on the bottom, “Denise Chavarria”.
