Sunday Chavarria is a daughter of noted potter Stella Chavarria and a granddaughter of Teresita Naranjo.  She is a sister of Denise Chavarria. She is known for her contemporary pottery.  This bowl is fully carved with swirling clouds.  Note the depth of the carving and the use of the negative space as part of the design.  The entire bowl is fully polished.  It is fired a deep black.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Sunday Chavarria”.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  Sunday rarely makes pottery these days, yet her work remains traditional and classic.
