Chinana, Lorraine – Blue Seedpot with Butterfly

Lorraine Chinana (b. 1955) began making pottery in 1981. She learned to make pottery from her grandmother Reyes S. Toya. This seedpot is coil-built and stone-polished with a blue-gray clay slip. It is oval in shape. One side has an etched butterfly and flower as the design. It is surrounded by a feather and rain design. The remainder is plain polished. The piece is signed on the bottom, “Lorraine Chinana”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
