This is an iconic large water jar by Rose Chino Garcia. She was a daughter of noted potter Marie Z. Chino. This piece is a classic Acoma water jar shape. The jar is coil built and painted with bee-weed (black). The design is has rain clouds around the neck filled in with thin lines. Around the body of the jar are swirling clouds and lightning designs. Again, they are filled in with thin lines. It is a complex and elegant use of imagery and tightly painted lines! This large jar is very thin-walled and it was traditionally fired. It is signed on the bottom, “Rose Chino”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.

Separating them are additional lighting and thin line rain designs. It is a creative use of classic fine-line imagery! This large jar is very thin-walled and it was traditionally fired. It is signed on the bottom, “Rose Chino”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
