Kathleen Collateta (b. 1969) is a daughter of Hopi kachina carver Tom Collateta Sr. and Antonita Collateta of Jemez.  She learned to make pottery from her grandmother, Sara Collateta.  Kathleen uses Hopi clay and uses Hopi designs.  This large jar is coil-built, stone polished, and painted with bee-weed and clay slips.  There jar has a wide shoulder and a fluted rim. The inside of the rim is fully polished red. The top of the shoulder has water and flower designs painted in a complex geometric pattern. The bottom is painted with a variety of linear strokes, almost creating a textural appearance.  The jar was traditionally fired.  It is signed, “K. Collateteta”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  There is a second-place ribbon from the 2005 Eight Northern Pueblos Art Show.
