Warren Coriz (d. 2011) was married to Ione Coriz and learned to make pottery from his mother-in-law Hilda Coriz and her brother, Robert Tenorio. This is a classic water jar with a round shoulder and a slightly turned out rim. The neck of the jar has a rain and cloud design. Around the body of the jar is a star pattern. The bottom of the jar is slipped red. It was painted with bee-weed (black) and red clay on a white clay base. It was traditionally fired. The jar is signed near the base, “Warren Coriz”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.

Warren Coriz was married to Ione Coriz. He learned to make pottery from his mother-in-law Hilda Coriz, and Robert Tenorio. He didn’t start making pottery until he was in his 30s. Warren was the 2009 recipient of the prestigious “Conrad House” innovation award at the Heard Museum.
