This is a larger incised bowl by Ergil Vallo, also known as, “Dalawepi”. The bowl is coil-built, stone-polished, and traditionally fired black. It has a round body and a short neck. The entire piece is fully polished and fired black. It is etched with a Longhair and Longhair Mana katsina in one section. Then there is a Hemis Mana, a Tewa Sun, and another Hemis Mana. There are additional bears, Mimbres insects, figures, and a lot of detail in design across the surface! It is a very complex piece on each side! The background area is a “rainbow” of colors, for which he was known. The bowl is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Dalawepi”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
