This is an incised square bowl by Ergil Vallo, also known as, “Dalawepi”. The bowl is coil built, stone polished, and traditionally fired black. It has flattened sides giving it a square shape. The bowl has a Hemis Mana on one side with Mudhead Katsinas. Next is a Zuni Fire God with a Mudhead. The next is a Longhair Mana and two Mudheads. Finally, there a Katsina with two Mudheads. Over each of the figures is a rainbow and next to them are heartline bears. It is a very complex piece on each side! The background area is a “rainbow” of colors, for which he was known. The bowl is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Dalawepi”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
