Verla Dewakuku (b. 1932) began making pottery in the 1970s.  Each piece is coil built and painted with bee-weed (black) and red clay slips.  This tall jar has geometric designs painted across the surface.  They swirl from the rim to the base. The rim is slipped with a red clay.  The jar is signed on the bottom, “V. Dewakuku”.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
