Carlos Dunlap was a son of Carmelita Dunlap and a grandson of Juanita Montoya Vigil, the youngest sister of Maria Martinez.  He was a brother to Jeannie Dunlap, Cynthia Dunlap, Linda Dunlap, and Martha Appleaf Fender.   This jar is a wide shape with a sharp shoulder.  It is painted with a feather, cloud, and rain design. The bowl was fired a glossy brown coloration, for which Carlos and his mother, Carmelita, were famous.  There are some fugitive areas of the painted design which is not uncommon because of the firing for this coloraiton.  Overall, it is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.   It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Carlos Sunrise Dunlap”.
