Erik Fender is the son of Martha Appleleaf and the grandson of noted potter Carmelita Dunlap. Erik combines classic San Ildefonso imagery with his own creative style. His pottery is signed, with his Tewa name, “Than Tsideh”, which means “Sunbird”.  This wedding vase is coil-built and fully polished.  There is an avanyu encircling the piece painted green-on-black.  There are additional cloud designs on the spouts. The wedding vase is highly polished and traditionally fired.  It is signed, ‘Than Tsideh”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair. There are two ribbons from the 2002 Santa Fe Indian Market; a Blue Ribbon and a Best of Division Ribbon.
