Folwell, Jody – Large NW Coast Design Bowl (1999)

14"w x 13"h

$ 6,000.00

Jody Folwell is known for her creative pottery shapes and designs.  This a massive piece of her pottery with her classic shape and style.  The rim is asymmetrical and it is polished.  The body of the bowl is rag polished so that it has a slight shine but not as much as the polished surface.  The neck of the bowl is etched with a series of Northwest Coast inspired fish.  They are each intricately designed with both Northwest Coast and Pueblo imagery on the body.  There is a beauty to the flow of the designs on the rim of this jar.  It is not often that she makes such large vessels and they are perfect in thickness and form.  Jody was one of the first Pueblo potters to be begin using Northwest Coast designs after visits to the area.   It is signed on the bottom, “Jody”.   It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
