Susan Folwell is one of the exciting innovators in Pueblo pottery. Her work in native clay and traditional designs, but she is constantly experimenting with techniques and clays.  This is one of her pieces inspired by the designs of the Northwest Coast.  The bowl is fully polished and has etched and painted Northwest coast and Pueblo designs around the surface. The various designs create a beautiful visual quilt of patterns as the bowl is turned. The piece was traditionally fired, which resulted in the black areas near the rim.  Just below the shoulder are the Folwell family “x’s”.  The bowl is signed on the bottom.
