Glendora Fragua is known for her polished and intricately incised pottery.  This tall jar is polished tan, the natural color of the clay with a red rim.  The body of the jar has etched lizards and flowers.  The designs are etched into the clay and then areas are highlighted with additional red and black clay slips.  The rim of the jar is polished red and has etched flowers.  The lid is fully polished red and in the shape of a flower.  There are inset coral for the eyes on both lizards.  Near the base are four additional coral set in the stars.   All the additional clay slips are added before the piece is fired.  The jar is signed on the bottom with a corn stalk, Glendora’s hallmark.  The jar is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
